A selection of 235 unique, diverse, and beautiful little spirographs. Each of them is drawn from a single line. Some have short lines, while others take many loops and go-arounds to finally close its line, resulting in an endless variety of different shapes.
I've created this visual using the mathematics of spirographs, a theoretical 3-wheeled spirograph to be exact. Working with random numbers and carefully chosen intervals to set the values that define the spirograph's shape. This creates a grid full of unique, tiny spirographs on each reload of the code. I curated the spirographs from each random grid that looked the most visually intriguing, which I placed in a phyllotaxis layout, a spiral pattern that is often seen in nature.
Printed with archival ink on high-quality Hahnemühle Photorag fine art paper (308 gsm) by theprintspace. This paper has a nice subtle texture and a slight off-white paper tone.
Small note: The real life photos at the end are of the A4 & colored A3 version.
