More than 5000 Olympic events have had a winner in the Summer Olympics since the first games of 1896. In this visual you can investigate how each of these medals has been won in the 56 different sporting disciplines that have competed at the games. Explore and see how sports are favored by different continents, how changes have happened across time and how things stand today.

Printed with archival ink on high-quality Hahnemühle Photorag fine art paper (308 gsm) by theprintspace. This paper has a nice subtle texture and an off-white paper tone.

I originally created this visualization for the "Olympics" month of Data Sketches. You can find an interactive version of it here, and if you're interested to read about its creation process, from idea, to data, sketching, and programming, you can read about it here.

Small note | The actual photo of the poster showing "How to Read" (the 4th one) is based on an earlier version that I'd send myself as a test to assess quality. The final version has a slightly shortened version of that text, which you can see in the 1st and 8th image.
